Three-year-old PLACE DU CARROUSEL knocked it out of the park today when she gave her sire LOPE DE VEGA a win in the €500,000 Gr.1 Prix de l'Opera at Paris-Longchamp. The Andre Fabre-trained filly ran a formidable race in the hands of Mickael Barzalona, who settled her off the pace on the heavy ground of the France's feature racecourse, and switched her to the outer lane leaving the final turn. PLACE DU CARROUSEL came flying down the long straight and edged out her rivals by nearly a length, hitting the post in perfect timing for her first Gr.1 victory.
