LOPE DE VEGA kicks off 2023 in great style

Following a stellar year in 2022 with more than 50 Black Type performers and four individual Gr.1 winners, LOPE DE VEGA is already set for another promising year, even though turf season in the Europe has not yet started. To this day, the son of Sharmadal has five Stakes wins on record--on three different continents! The last of which came yesterday when AUTUMN STARLIGHT beat a strong field of three-year-old fillies in the €55,000 Listed-level Prix de Camargo at Saint-Cloud. The Stephane Wattel-trained filly, who is the first runner out of Gr.1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Falling Leaves, is a hopeful for the Gr.1 Prix de Diane in June.

HOOKING gave LOPE DE VEGA already two Listed wins in France, while ARAPAHO contributed in the Southern Hemisphere when winning the Cranberra Plate (LR) last week. The March success streak was actually kicked off by four-year-old FAITH IN HUMANITY, who took the Gr.3 Honey Fox Stakes at Gulfstream Park in the U.S.
