MAX VEGA takes Gr.3 John Porter Stakes at Newbury

Five-year-old MAX VEGA kicked off his 2022 campaign in great style today when he gave his sire LOPE DE VEGA yet another Stakes win with a confident victory in the 70,000 GBP John Porter Stakes at Newbury. The Ralph Beckett trainee had Rob Hornby in the saddle for a solid run in the Gr.3 contest over 2,400 metres where the pair was stalking the leader for most of the race and drawing clear by two lenghts after shifting into a higher gear in the final straight.
