Female power was the motto of the day yesterday at Rosehill, Australia, where MONEGAL and Rachel King dominated the AUSD160,000 Epona Stakes. The seven-year-old LOPE DE VEGA mare had narrowly missed the Stakes podium several times, but this time she left no doubts about her abilities. Under King, MONEGAL was the fastest in the final phase of the Gr.3 contest and clocked in as a confident winner by two lengths after 1900 metres giving sire LOPE DE VEGA yet another Stakes success in the Southern hemisphere.
