VEGADAZE gives LOPE DE VEGA G3 win Down Under

Four-year-old VEGADAZE gave his sire LOPE DE VEGA yet another group success in the Southern Hemisphere today when he won the AUS$160,000 G3 E-Group Security Star Kingdom at Rosehill. Ridden by Tom Marquand, the James Cummings-trained chestnut showed plenty of tenacity in the 1200 m sprint on soft going, fighting gamely in the last two furlongs to beat the favoured Godolphin duo by a neck. According to his trainer, VEGADAZE is next pointed to the G3 Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick.
