DALIKA scores Gr.3 Cardinal Stakes in impressive style

Despite her nomination, Ammerland-bred DALIKA left out the Breeders' Cup two weeks ago and instead returned to the site of her Grade 1 win last night for an inspired run in the $300,000 Cardinal Stakes. The six-year-old mare went gate-to-wire under Brian J. Hernandez, Jr. for an impressive victory in the Gr.3 contest for fillies and mares run over 1,700 metres. DALIKA by Pastorius out of our top mare DRAWN TO RUN was acquired by Paul Varga of Bal Mar Equine at the end of her 2yo campaign. Since racing in the U.S. under the care of trainer Albert Stall, the mare has collected eight wins by 27 starts, including a Gr.1 win in the Beverly D. Stakes. According to Varga, DALIKA will retire at the end of this year.
