2YO LUCKY VEGA takes G1 Phoenix Stakes in breathtaking style

Future hopefuls met at the Curragh today for the €200,000 G1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes over 1200 metres where LUCKY VEGA shone like a diamond when he became the 11th individual G1 winner for his sire LOPE DE VEGA. The Irish bred colt, who is in training with Jessica Harrington for Zhang Yuesheng, was denied in the G2 Railway Stakes three weeks ago but left nothing to desire today. LUCKY VEGA saw no opposition under Shane Foley when thundering home with a devastating turn of foot and crowning his young career with a brilliant G1 win by three and a half lengths.
LUCKY VEGA could next be aimed at the G1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes in September and is nominated for the 2021 Epsom Derby.
