Borgia, Champion European 3yo Filly in 1997, had to be put down due to a severe colic attack. The 18-year-old homebred daughter by Acatenango won six races at 3 and 5 years including three Group races viz Deutsches Derby, Großer Preis von Baden and Hong Kong Vase and was placed 13 times in Germany, France, England and U.S.A. including second in Breeders' Cup Turf and third in Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. After retiring from her famous racing career in 2000 she joined Gestüt Ammerland's broodmare band, where she brought amongst others the Group filly Bahama Bay. Only a month ago Borgia foaled a nice filly by Lope De Vega.
